"The Moustache"

(Episode #23)

OAD: March 17, 1952 - CBS Television Network

FILMED: Friday, February 8, 1952 - General Service Studios

PREMISE: Lucy thinks Ricky looks silly with his new mustache. When he refuses to shave, she decides to fight fire with fire and (with the help of some spirit gum) "grows" a white beard of her own. Ricky gets the hint and promptly shaves. When Lucy tries to pull off her beard, she discovers she did not use spirit gum afterall -- she used long-lasting cement!

GUEST CAST: John Brown (Mr. Murdoch)

MUSIC: "I'll See You in C-U-B-A"

Visiting Lucy backstage the night this show was filmed were actors J. Carroll Naish (standing) and Bob Cummings. Both were preparing their own new situation comedies for fall. Naish would star in "Life with Luigi" on CBS (in the time slot immediately following "I Love Lucy"), and Cummings in "My Hero" on NBC. In this photo (right), Lucy has just slathered her face with cold cream -- even the mildest form of glue can be harmful to the face.
