Ethel stops by to see Lucy -- but she's out shopping for the baby. Ethel says she wanted to remind Lucy that the Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League is meeting on Friday this week. The group is having its nominations for officers -- which prompts Ricky recall the last time the group held elections...
At that point, we flashback to ("I Love Lucy" Episode 47) Lucy and Ethel both campaigning for the job of club president. Unfortunately, both ladies have the support of about half the membership -- meaning new member Ruth Knickerbocker will have the deciding vote.

MUSIC: "Cuban Cabby," "Cielito Lindo"
This is one of five episodes filmed in late summer/early fall of 1952 and saved for broadcast after Lucille Ball started maternity leave. All five included opening scenes that mentioned and/or showed the new Ricardo baby -- then flashed back to an earlier story... These opening scenes were normally discarded when the episodes were repeated later.
This episode was the first to feature Doris Singleton as Lucy and Ethel's friend... In this story, she is called Lillian Appleby, but it later shows her character's name was changed to Carolyn Appleby.
In real life, Lillian Appleby was the name of one of Lucille Ball's Jamestown, NY teachers; Marion Strong, Grace Munson, and Pauline Lopus were all personal friends of Lucy.
