I LOVE LUCY: 50th Anniversary Special

From Leila:

I'm watching the airing of the 50th Anniversary Show... again... I love that it got another go 'round. Lucy was the greatest -- and still is! I was, however, disappointed that William Frawley and Vivian Vance did not get much recognition. They were just as important to the show. I wasn't entertained with the Lucie and Desi Jr. musical numbers -- it was if they tried too hard to be funny, and although it was great to see the house Lucy grew up in, I felt a little silly watching Desi Jr. breakdown as if it were the first time he had seen his mother's childhood home. But, I know...everyone's a critic.

Any case, it was a great show, and it made me miss her. I wish I had had the pleasure of meeting all of the cast, especially Lucille, because she was fabulous in everything she did ("The Long, Long Trailer," for example) and seemed to have a heart of gold. Miss You Lucy!

For the record, it was the first time that Desi Jr. had made the trip to Jamestown to see his mother's home -- and Lucie wanted to capture that moment on tape for the special.
