I LOVE LUCY: 50th Anniversary Special

The following was posted 11/14/01:

From Paul Lawson:

My favorite part was the tour of Lucy's Jamestown home and the tearful moments by Desi Jr. and Lucie.

I was disappointed that there were no interviews with the surviving recurring cast members like the Borden twins, Shirley Mitchell, Doris Singleton, etc. No mention of the lovely Mary Jane Croft, Frank Nelson, or her hairdresser Irma Kusely.

I also thought it could have touched on Lucille's other shows, with special appearances by Candy Moore, Ralph Hart and Jimmy Garrett, Carol Burnett, etc.

Otherwise, very enjoyable!!!!!!!

I agree that Irma and the surviving I Love Lucy players should have been included in some manner, but because this was specifically saluting that one series, it would not have been appropriate for performers from The Lucy Show to appear... But then again, I think I'd have rather heard comments from Candy and Ralph and Jimmy than those of, say, Henry Winkler, Roseanne, and Leah Remini -- who may all be talented performers, but had no affiliation with Lucy whatsoever.

Let us hear from you!
