From Barry Baldwin:

I am a longtime fan of Lucy's and also of Dean Martin. I know that Dean appeared on an episode of Lucy's show, and was wondering if you have a picture of them together from that episode that you might be willing to share?

* * * * *

Lucy and Dean worked together on many occasions...

You are correct in that he did appear in a 1965-66 episode of The Lucy Show -- I think it is one of the very best of the "Lucy Carmichael in Southern California stories." Dean played a double role -- himself and his look-alike stunt double. Lucy is supposed to go on a blinddate with the latter, but when he has to work late, Dean volunteers to sub for him with Lucy... It is a fun episode, and one in which she and hair-stylist Irma Kusely were experimenting with a glamorous new hair style for her. (See photo, left.)

Dean Martin also guest-starred in Lucy's 1975 special, "Lucy Gets Lucky," set in Las Vegas (see photo, top), and was one of the celebrities featured on her CBS Salutes Lucy: The First 25 Years, anniversary special (1976).

Lucy, in turn, was a guest on Dean's NBC variety show in February, 1966, and the subject of one of his celebrity roasts in 1975. They often appeared together as guests on other people's shows, including those of Bob Hope.

Dean's second wife, Jeanne Biegger Martin, was one of the celebrity wives featured in the Hollywood "Fashion Show" episode of I Love Lucy (1955).

Dean's son, Dino, of course, was part of the "Dino, Desi & Billy" rock group. Dino's younger brother Ricci has not only recently helped Desi and Billy Hinsche revive the group, but has published a book about his father -- "That's Amore: A Son Remembers Dean Martin" (photo, right).

Lastly, fans of Dean should check out the web site devoted to him:
