New "I Love Lucy" VHS Tapes

The following was e-mailed on 12/04/01:

From Jeff Marquis:

I was distressed to learn that the episodes included on the new Paramount "I Love Lucy" videos are EDITED. I would not have believed it, but it is true. This is the first time I have ever heard of CUT versions of a show being released on home video. Perhaps to fit five episodes on a tape? That does not seem right, however. Can anyone explain/confirm?

Jeff -- You are correct: normally the producers of videos use "complete, unedited" as a marketing tool to make sales to people who may have taped programs, movies, etc. off the air. Like you, I have NEVER heard of a company intentionally releasing edited programs (except in rare occasions when that is the only existing "master.") Thanks for the heads up on this -- we will check into it. Did you discover that they were edited by watching them, or did someone else tell you about it? Is there any particular episode that is edited, or are they all?

Let us hear from you!
We welcome your ideas and opinions.
