New "I Love Lucy" VHS Tapes

The following was e-mailed on 12/05/01:

From Stuart Shostak:

Tom O'Brien in Chicago spot-checked both volumes of the CBS/Paramount package, and reports that "Lucy Does a TV Commercial" runs 24:49; "Lucy Does the Tango," runs 25:56, and "Lucy's Italian Movie" runs 22:28. That's not a typo -- that's 22:28. He double checked that last one...

I think this in combination with Jeff's second note confirms that at least some the shows ARE edited. It sounds like they only made little trims here and there, and it would make sense so they could fit all five shows on T-120 or T-130 tape stock...

Looks like the only way for collectors to get COMPLETE "I Love Lucy" episodes, at least at this time, is to join Columbia House Video Library. CHVL's longtime "I Love Lucy" VHS series is still available, and the company recently launched an even better "I Love Lucy" DVD series. In this day and age there is NO reason for fans to have to settle for incomplete Lucy shows!
