New "I LOVE LUCY MOVIE"
Announced by CBS

May 16, 2002

CBS Television Network announced yesterday that it has a new made-for-television motion picture in development that will be, "an inside account of the celebrated, complex, passionate and tumultuous relationship of Lucille all and Desi Arnaz."

The film, earmarked for the upcoming 2002-2003 season, will also offer "a fascinating behind-the- scenes look at the creation of I Love Lucy."

"The 'I Love Lucy' Movie" (tentative working title) promises to illustrate "backstage battles, oversized egos and the demands of phenomenal success" and show how they "undermined what was once a storybook romance."

No casting selections have been announced. The movie will be produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who were responsible for last year's "Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows," as well as for "Brian's Song" and "Cinderella."
