Lucy Provides a Happy New Year!
Lucy's teenage daughter Chris wants to throw a New Years Eve Party -- one without parents -- and Lucy reluctantly agrees. Neighbor Harry Connors is pressed into service to chaperone the party, leaving Lucy and Viv "man-less" for the night. They decide to take their young sons, Jimmy and Sherman, out to dinner and dancing at the local Elm Tree Inn. All goes well until Lucy gets word that Chris' party is something of a dud -- and everyone rushes home to help. Lucy, with assistance from Viv and Harry, entertains Chris' guests with a Charlie Chaplin routine that ushers in the New Year with great success.
"Chris' New Years Eve Party," episode #14 of The Lucy Show first aired on CBS Television Network 40 years ago this week, on December 31, 1962. This was the first time Lucy did her very adroit Charlie Chaplin immitation on a television program.
