“I LOVE LUCY” LAUNCHES SECOND SEASON ON CBS-TV SEPT. 15

Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, the Hollywood glamour team that skyrocketed CBS-TV’s “I Love Lucy” program to the top of national popularity ratings last year, launch their second season on the CBS Television Network, following a summer hiatus, on Monday, Sept. 15 (CBS-TV, 9:00-9:30PM, EDT).

With Philip Morris & Co., Ltd., Inc. again as sponsor, “I Love Lucy” will continue to highlight the mad antics of lovable Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, and the hilarious situations that jet-propelled then show into television’s number one comedy spot.

In the opening program of the second season, Ricky becomes annoyed at Lucy’s apparent ignorance of the value of money and at her extravagant spending at the beauty parlor.  He draws his neighbors, Fred and Ethel, into a plan whereby the men stay at home to do the housework while the women go to business.

Vivian Vance and Bill Frawley again will be seen as Ethel and Fred Mertz, the landlords and neighbors of the Ricardos.

Bill Asher takes over the directional reins from Marc Daniels this season.  Desi Arnaz is executive producer.  Jess Oppenheimer doubles as producer-writer, with Madelyn Pugh and Bob Carroll, Jr., assisting with scripts.  Karl Freund is director of photography of “I Love Lucy,” a Desilu production.  Wilbur Hatch conducts the orchestra.
