December 9, 2002 – TV Guide: “90 Things to Love About Television.”  Hollywood Memorabilia Auction – Ret Turner costume for Lucy’s final appearance in Oscars. October 28, 2002 – Announcing KAAT Radio salute to Desi Arnaz November 30.  Artist Linda Koast’s Lucy-themed giclees.  Richard Amsel art included in upcoming auction.  Jack Benny Convention announced for February 14, 2003.

October 21, 2002 – Hallmark “I Love Lucy” Christmas ornament for 2002.  Lucy-inspired calendars.

October 14, 2002 – 51st anniversary of “I Love Lucy.”  Trailer for Lucy’s “Mame” included on “Auntie Mame” DVD not-so-good.  West Coast longshoremen’s strike delays delivery of Mattel/Lucy doll and other items.

October 7, 2002 – Thank you to KAAT for hosting We Love Lucy on Radio tribute to 40th Anniversary of “The Lucy Show.”   Rosalind Russell “Auntie Mame” film released on DVD with preview trailer for Lucy’s “Mame.”  Paperback edition of “I Loved Lucy: My Friendship with Lucille Ball” now in bookstores.  Larry Luckinbill stars as Teddy Roosevelt in new one-man show.

September 30, 2002 – 40th Anniversary of “The Lucy Show.”  KAAT Radio show scheduled for October 5.  Gregg Oppenheimer to host “Still Loving Lucy” at West Hollywood Book Fair.

September 23, 2002 – Happy Birthday to Larry Anderson and Jimmy Garrett.  New DVDs:  “I Love Lucy,”  “The I Love Lucy 50th Anniversary Special,” and “The Carol Burnett Show: Show Stoppers.”  Three Lucy photos in latest edition of LA Confidential magazine devoted to the Emmy Awards.

September 16, 2002 -  Emmy Awards 2002.

September 9, 2002 – “I Love Lucy 50th Anniversary Special” nominated for Emmy Award.  New “Lucy”-themed slot machines to debut in Las Vegas.  “What’s My Line?” reruns on Game Shot Network include 1952 guest appearance by Desi Arnaz.  Radio salute to “The Lucy Show” announced for October 5.

September 3, 2002 – More “Lucy” merchandise in development.  History Channel to show “Big Business Deals” of 20th Century.  Travel Channel planning Lucy documentary.  Garrett Boyajian working on yet another “Lucy” documentary.  Kurt Fethke’s “The Desilu Story” documentary nears completion.

August 26, 2002 – New Lucy videos available soon:  Paramount’s “The Best of ‘I Love Lucy’ VHS tapes; “I Love Lucy” DVDs; “50th Anniversary Special.”  Also, “50th Anniversary Special” to be shown for third time on CBS.

August 19, 2002 – Visit with Richard and Ronald Lee Simmons.  Lucie Arnaz stars in “Once Removed” at Miami’s Coconut Grove Playhouse.

August 12, 2002 – Thank you to KAAT Radio for Lucy birthday tribute.  “Here’s Lucy” episode with Elvis Presley.  TV Guide Crosswords magazine has Lucy on cover holding Little Ricky (one of the Simmons twins).

August 5, 2002 – Lucy’s birthday week to include “Intimate Portrait of Lucille Ball” on Lifetime cable network; and Lucy-themed hour on Home Shopping Network, featuring Suzanne LaRusch.  KAAT Radio to host Lucy tribute August 10.  “Legends of Hollywood” memorabilia show scheduled for August 10-11 in Irvine, CA.

July 29, 2002 – Lucy’s Birthday Celebration scheduled for August 3-4 in Jamestown, NY.  Guests include Richard Simmons, Irma Kusely, Wanda Clark, and others.

July 22, 2002 – “I Love Lucy 50th Anniversary Special” nominated for Emmy Award.  Hallmark Christmas ornament for 2002 announced for October delivery.

July 15, 2002 – TV Guide list of “50 Worst TV Shows of All Time” includes “Life with Lucy.”  Update on “I Love Lucy Anniversary Tour” playdates.

July 8, 2002 – New Paramount “I Love Lucy” DVDs (vol. 1 & 2) now available in stores. Beware of non-licensed “Lucy Show” DVDs.

July 1, 2002 – TV Guide includes story on Lucy Museum in Jamestown. 

June 27, 2002 – Lucy’s gravesite moved to Jamestown. 

June 24, 2002 – Plans announced for Lucy’s Birthday Weekend in Jamestown, NY.  Lucy’s gravesite to be moved to Jamestown. 

June 17, 2002 – “50th Anniversary Tour” in dry-dock for near future.  Jamestown festival scheduled for August 2-4.  Lucie Arnaz releases “Surviving Success” CD; Desi Jr. releases “Ricci, Desi & Billy: Live from Boulder City” CD.

June 10, 2002 – Three Lucy covers included in TV Guide article saluting their “50 Greatest Covers.”  Desilu items included in Hollywood collectibles auction.  New Lucy Collecticritters are on their way to stores.  Desilu themes to be included on upcoming KAAT salute to great television theme music.

June 3, 2002 – New Lucy merchandise announcements:  Mattel/Lucy “Paris at Last” doll; new Lucy-Desi bobble heads from Classic Colleticritters.  New Lucy teddy-bear.  Soft cover edition of “I Loved Lucy: My Friendship with Lucille Ball” due in September.  Vote in TV Land poll for statues.

May 28, 2002 – Happy Birthday Bob Hope (99 years old); Lucy’s teamwork with Hope.  Roz and Marilyn Borden also celebrating a birthday.  We Love Lucy on the Radio idea.

May 20, 2002 – New on DVD:  “Inside Television’s Greatest: ‘I Love Lucy.’  Thanks to Ron Paul and KAAT Radio for last Saturday’s broadcast.

May 13, 2002 – Suzanne LaRusch on Home Shopping Network “Lucy” hour.  ABC to air “TV  Guide’s 50 Best Shows of All Time” special.  People Magazine includes Lucy in article on babies on TV.  Brown Derby Restaurant saluted by Motion Picture Academy.

May 6, 2002 – Kate Luckinbill presides over Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival.  Upcoming TV programs:  HSN “Lucy” hour; “TV Guide’s 50 Best Shows of All Time.”  Gregg Oppenheimer to appear in Tucson, AZ Berger Performing Arts Center.  Irma Kusely confirmed as guest in Jamestown at Museum’s August festival.

April 29, 2002 – Hallmark Channel purchases TV rights to “The Lucy Show.”  New “I Love Lucy” DVDs unveiled by Paramount Home Video.  Rare out-take photo from “Breaking the Lease.”  We Love Lucy to do radio show in May, will be heard over the internet. 

April 25, 2002 – Poem, “The Dash,” by Linda Ellis, offered in remembrance of Lucy’s death 13 years ago. (Removed by request of Ms. Ellis on 1/28/05)

April 22, 2002 – Home Shopping Network schedules a new “Lucy” hour for May 13.  Lucy-Desi Museum schedules August Birthday festival for weekend of August 2-4.  “I Love Lucy: 50th Anniversary Tour” may be booked at casinos over the summer.  Shirley Eder Auction.  Carol Burnett to host 50th Anniversary Special for CBS TV City.  Desilu’s “Star Trek” honored with multiple TV Guide covers.

April 15, 2002 – Jamestown Museum & Gift Shop reopened under new management.  Lucie Arnaz announces family may move Lucy and DeDe Ball’s ashes to a cemetery in Jamestown.  New book:  “Importance of Lucille Ball,” by Adam Woog.  Ricci, Desi & Billy concert scheduled.

April 8, 2002 – What’s happening with Columbia House “I Love Lucy” DVD project? Gregg Oppenheimer to speak in Tucson next month to honor 50th Anniversary of Vitameatavegamin episode.  CBS-TV City anniversary program scheduled.  NBC releases Lucy-less book, “Brought to You in Living Color.”  Autograph auction in Michigan.

April 1, 2002 – What’s happening in Jamestown?  No festival in May; one will be celebrated in August.  Lucy childhood home sold in auction on e-bay.  Profiles in History auction.  Jeb Perry estate auction.  Kate Luckinbill to be Queen at 75th Shenandoah Apple Festival next month.  Keith Thibodeaux will appear at Mayberry tribute this summer.

December 31, 2001 – Happy New Year.  Lucille Ball quote on “new beginnings.”

December 3, 2001 – Lucille Ball and Carol Burnett specials top Nielsen charts again.

November 26, 2001 – Lucille Ball Commemorative Stamp will disappear when Post Office raises postage to 37-cents.  David Hillman reports on BBC special, “Lucille Ball: Queen of Comedy.”  New Lee Tannen book selling well.

November 19, 2001 – November 19 would have been Lucy & Gary’s 40th wedding anniversary.  Thanks for letters regarding “I Love Lucy: 50th Anniversary Special.”  BBC showing yet another Lucy special this week.  Newspaper clippings from David Hillman in England. 

November 13, 2001 – Comments regarding “I Love Lucy: 50th Anniversary Special.”  Columbia House to sell VHS copies of special for limited time.

November 5, 2001 – “I Love Lucy: 50th Anniversary Special” this Sunday.  PBS to repeat “Finding Lucy” later this year.  Columbia House renews interest in “I Love Lucy” DVD series.  Paramount to also release “Lucy” VHS and DVD packages.

October 17, 2001 – Remembering Jay Livingston.  Emmy Awards now set for November 4.  TV Land “Lucy” Marathon wins ratings.

October 15, 2001 – 50th Anniversary Week of “I Love Lucy.”  “I Love Lucy” opens tonight on TV Land.  CBS finishing work on “50th Anniversary Special” scheduled for next month.  “Desilu” documentary in works for later in year.  Next Columbia House “I Love Lucy” DVD due in November.

October 8, 2001 – Emmy Awards postponed by terrorism.  TV Guide to publish 8 different Lucy covers next week.  Suzanne LaRusch to host special “Lucy” hour on Home Shopping Network.  Franklin Mint museum presenting exhibition of Lucy items.

October 1, 2001 – Emmy Awards rescheduled.  “I Love Lucy: 50th Anniversary Special” set for November 11.  New Elisabeth Edwards book, “I Love Lucy: Celebrating 50 Years of Love and Laughter” now in bookstores.  Other new books:  “The ‘I Love Lucy’ Book of Trivia,” by Ric Wyman; “Color Me Lucy,” by Tom Watson; “I Loved Lucy,” by Lee Tannen, and the re-issued, “Desilu: The Story of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz,” by Coyne Steven Sanders and Tom Gilbert.
