Dear Fellow Lucy Fans,

Call for "Room Service"

"Room Service," the 1938 comedy starring the Marx Brothers and featuring Lucille Ball, is among the films included in "The Marx Brothers Collection," a 5 DVD boxed set being released tomorrow (May 4) by Warner Bros. home video.

"Room Service," an RKO release produced by Pandro Berman, was based on the Broadway show of the same name. Lucille plays Christine, an actress who is in rehearsals for a play being produced by Groucho. It's little more than a "walk on role," but it is fun to see her with the famous trio.

Also included in the 7-film package are "A Night at the Opera," "A Day at the Races," "A Night in Casablanca," "At the Circus," "Go West," and "The Big Store." This is the first DVD release of most (if not all) of these zany comedies.

"The Marx Brothers Collection" is list-priced at $59.95, but will be available at many outlets at a cheaper price.

"Mame" CD Sold Out!

Longtime Lucy fan George Konder has informed us that the recently-released Rhino Handmade CD soundtrack of Lucy's "Mame" has already sold out!

According to Konder, "They grossly underestimated the Lucille Ball fan base by making the edition limited to 2500 copies. Let's hope that in a year or so they'll release an expanded version of the soundtrack (with alternate takes, etc.) as they should have in the first place -- and make it a general, not limited edition, release."

Konder maintains a web site devoted to Show Music -- He has a review of the Rhino "Mame" CD in the section entitled "2004 Reviews."
