Still in Love with Lucy

Dear Fellow Lucy Fans,

Happy New Year one and all! May 2002 be good to all of us!

The year 2001 was certainly a "mixed bag" -- allowing us to experience the highest of highs (the Lucy 50th Anniversary celebrations, TV specials, Lucy's arrival on TV Land, etc.) and the lowest of lows (the September 11 tragedy). Hopefully we can all move forward, remembering the good times, learning from the challenges of the bad.

Lucille Ball relished new beginnings. It was part of her "personal religion." Just as she would remodel her TV formats from time to time, she remodeled her personal/daily life as appropriate. Whenever she would lecture acting classes (or students in general), she would hit on this important concept. Here is a quote from her material:

I LOVE NEW BEGINNINGS! With a new beginning, ANYTHING is possible. I look for new beginnings like some people look for bargains. I don't wait for New Year's Eve -- almost any morning can be a new beginning for me. I have trained myself to wipe the cobwebs and start with a clean slate at almost a moment's notice.

I am a firm believer in the old maxim, "Don't put off till tomorrow what you can do today." I use it all the time. All too often I hear complaints -- "I wish I had the time," or "I wish I had done that years ago," or "No sense starting now." I wish, I wish, I wish.

It is NEVER too late to make a new beginning. You can start now doing all the things you have been putting off for years. With a new beginning, anything is possible.

So here's a toast to a great new beginning for all of us!
