Fellow Lucyfans,

DVD Update

Many of you have asked if/when we can expect more "I Love Lucy" and "Here's Lucy" DVDs... As of now, the 3rd season boxed set of "I Love Lucy" shows will be in stores February 1. (Photo, left, shows the new Season 3 artwork.)

Season 4 is tentatively scheduled for release in May -- as is a "reissue" of Season 1. (Paramount liked the new slimline packaging used on season 2 so much that it is planning to reissue the first season that way. It takes up much less shelf space and is cheaper to produce!) Season 5 will probably be released sometime in the fall of 2005 or early in 2006. An exact date has not been announced.

As for "Here's Lucy," the current "Best of..." package has been selling well, but not spectacularly, so there are no current plans to issue a follow-up set. Which is not to say that such a set won't ever be done. There just are no current plans to do one.

Lucie Salutes Cy Coleman

Lucie Arnaz will be part of an all-star salute to composer Cy Coleman -- TODAY -- in New York City at the Majestic Theatre. Coleman, who died at age 75 on November 18, was one of Lucie's longtime friends. She met him in 1960 when he wrote the music to her mother's "Wildcat" score -- and she herself worked with him on a number of shows over the years. Among the other speakers or performers will be Bea Arthur, Tony Bennett, Chuck Cooper, Gregg Edelman, Judy Kaye, Michele Lee, Brian Stokes Mitchell, James Naughton, Chita Rivera, Neil Simon, and Wendy Wasserstein.

Happy Birthday, Charles Lane

Character actor Charles Lane will celebrate his 100th birthday later this month -- on January 26. Lane, of course, appeared in various episodes of "I Love Lucy" (including "The Business Manager," photo, left) and played banker Barnsdahl in the first season of "The Lucy Show."

If you'd like to send Mr. Lane a birthday wish, send your cards to our club address and we will see to it that they are forwarded to him. The Lane family is planning a big celebration so get your cards in the mail soon! You can send them to the following address:

Have a great week everybody!
