Still in Love with Lucy

Dear Lucyfans,

There's no real news to report... I want to thank all the readers who sent e-mails after last week's release of the "I Love Lucy" Sixth Season boxed set of DVDs -- and the Lucy-Desi movies on DVD. Many people asked if there are currently any plans for "The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hours" to be issued...

Officially, no... CBS/Paramount Home Video is still mulling-over the idea... Unofficially, I am almost certain that the company will issue the Lucy-Desi hour shows in one 13-episode DVD package. When? Again hazarding a guess -- probably in about a year. It normally takes that much time to gather up the elements (including possible "bonus" features), produce the discs and distribute them to the retail outlets. Stay tuned... We will keep you posted when more information becomes available...

REMINDERS FROM PREVIOUS WEEKS:

Festival Reminder

We hope to see everyone at the upcoming "Lucy-Desi Days" Festival being held in Jamestown, NY, over Memorial Day Weekend. For complete information about this year's line-up of guests and events, visit the web site for the Lucy-Desi Center:

Of Related Interest: Game Show Convention in July

Fans of TV game shows will want to note that this year's Game Show Convention is set for the weekend of July 14, 15 and 16 -- at the Hilton Burbank Airport Hotel (the same hotel in which we hosted the Lucy Conventions). Among this year's special guests is actress Betsy Palmer, who was a longtime panelist on the "I've Got a Secret" game show. We will have more information on guests and events in later weeks.

Dann Cahn Remembers...

Dann Cahn, original "I Love Lucy" film editor and longtime friend of the Arnazes, has committed a few of his memories to paper in a self-published booklet entitled "I Loved Lucy & Desi, Too: Movies and Memories."

Dann recalls his first meeting with Lucy -- back in the mid-1930s -- his later work on the redhead's television series, and working with the Arnazes on their 1956 motion picture, "Forever, Darling." He recounts how many of the people Lucy met as a young starlet later became important employees at Desilu Studios.

Included are photos and informal snapshots (both black-and-white and color) from Dann's personal collection.

Dann will be selling copies of the booklet at the Lucy-Desi Festival in Jamestown, NY, over Memorial Day -- but also wants to make them available to readers of this web site. The spiral-bound booklets are priced at $12 each (including postage and handling), and can be purchased from Dann directly.

Send check or money order to:

Mr. Dann Cahn
Movies and Memories
PO Box 49824
Los Angeles, CA 90049

If you want the booklet(s) inscribed, please enclose a note indicating to whom he should sign the inscription(s).

Have a great week everybody!
