Dear Fellow Lucyfans:

It's been 18 years this week (April 26, 1989) that Lucy left us, but her fame and popularity goes on and on -- just like her reruns. How great to see her honored last night on TV Land's annual awards show. Perhaps this lady, more than any other, needs to be thanked for her "Legacy of Laughter."

For additional "coverage" of last night's event, visit the TV Land web site, and click on the areas labeled "highlights" (for Lucie and Desi's complete acceptance speech) and "red carpet" (for views of celebs -- such as Shirley Mitchell -- as they arrived):

"Easy to Wed" Coming to DVD

Lucy's 1946 color motion picture, "Easy to Wed," also starring Esther Williams, Van Johnson and Keenan Wynn, will be released on DVD this summer as part of an Esther Williams box set. (At least for now, it will not be sold separately.)

Other films in the set include "Bathing Beauty," "On an Island with You," "Neptune's Daughter," and "Dangerous When Wet."

The set will be released on Lucie Arnaz's birthday -- July 17 -- and will hae a "suggested retail price" of $49.95.

Jamestown Unveils Plans for May Festival

Ric Wyman, Executive Director of the Lucy-Desi Center in Jamestown, New York, has announced plans for this year's "Lucy-Desi Days" celebration, to be held May 25-27 (Memorial Day Weekend).

Among the celebrities scheduled to appear are Lucie Arnaz (appearing in two events), Vivian Vance's sister Lou Ann Graham (also appearing in two events), Lucille Ball's sister Cleo Smith, former child-actors David Stollery and Sammy Ogg (who played the Hudson Twins in the "Amateur Hour" segment of I Love Lucy, and film editor Dann Cahn.

Lucie is scheduled to host another of the "Legends of Laughter" seminars, in which a panel -- and the audience -- discuss the importance of laughter in our lives. A similar seminar held last month in Boulder City, Nevada, was a sell-out, and this next one in Jamestown is expected to be as well. Lucie will also headline "Lucie Arnaz in Concert: A Daughter's Ttribute," a special musical evening in which she salutes her father.

Ms. Graham will join me in celebrating her famous sister, Vivian Vance, in a Saturday morning presentation that combines film clips, rare family photos, and fond remembrances of the lady that made Ethel Mertz the world's favorite landlady. Ms. Graham will also be special guest on a Treasure Chest Boat Cruise.

David Stollery and Sammy Ogg will be this year's "Lucy Legend" guests, and share memories of appearing with Lucy and Desi. Dann Cahn will host a special screening of "Lucy Takes a Cruise to Havana," and likewise share memories of how that very special 75-minute Lucy-Desi show got made some 50 years ago -- in May/June, 1957.

"Yours, Mine & Ours" to be Screened in Los Angeles Area

"Yours, Mine & Ours," considered by many to be one of Lucille Ball's best motion pictures, will be screened Wednesday, April 25, at 7:30PM at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, California. The screening is part of a special 90th birthday celebration for writer-director Mel Shavelson, who will participate in a discussion following the screening.

This very special evening is being presented by American Cinematheque. For more information, visit that organization's web site at:

Have a great week everybody!
