Dear Fellow Lucyfans:

Dann Writes Again

Dann Cahn, the original film editor on I Love Lucy -- and the man who went on to build and manage the entire Desilu post-production department for nearly a decade -- will be one of the special guests again this year at the "Lucy-Desi Days" Festival in Jamestown, NY, being held over Memorial Day weekend. (See story below.)

As he has done in the past, Dann will not only give a verbal presentation at this year's event (a 50th Anniversary screening of the "Lucy Takes a Cruise to Havana" special), he will offer for sale autographed copies of an article he has written about his experiences working on that show.

For fans who are not able to attend the Jamestown gathering, Dann has graciously agreed to make copies of his article available to readers of this website. We will have more information on how you can order a copy in next week's letter.

Lucy Items Included in Auction

We received a announcement recently about an auction coming up May 11 and 12 in Hagerstown, Maryland, that will include a large collection of Lucille Ball and "I Love Lucy"-releated items. While I cannot vouch for the auction house or the items themselves, I thought I would pass along this information and let interested collectors decide for themselves.

Among the items mentioned on the bulletin are several early original movie posters, a boxed toy Desi Conga Drum, many early Dolls, Lucy worn and used items, Lucy endorsed Toys, I Love Lucy Pajamas, Lucy Advertising, Keith Thibodeaux signed stroller, a real Desi Conga Drum and much much more.

The sale will be held at the Grand Venice Hotel, 431 Dual Highway, Hagerstown, Md.

In conjunction with the auction Old Town will be hosting room trading at the hotel on May10th and 11th , dealers and collectors are invited to bring items for sale or trade.

Jamestown Unveils Plans for May Festival

Ric Wyman, Executive Director of the Lucy-Desi Center in Jamestown, New York, has announced plans for this year's "Lucy-Desi Days" celebration, to be held May 25-27 (Memorial Day Weekend).

Among the celebrities scheduled to appear are Lucie Arnaz (appearing in two events), Vivian Vance's sister Lou Ann Graham (also appearing in two events), Lucille Ball's sister Cleo Smith, former child-actors David Stollery and Sammy Ogg (who played the Hudson Twins in the "Amateur Hour" segment of I Love Lucy, and film editor Dann Cahn.

Lucie is scheduled to host another of the "Legends of Laughter" seminars, in which a panel -- and the audience -- discuss the importance of laughter in our lives. A similar seminar held last month in Boulder City, Nevada, was a sell-out, and this next one in Jamestown is expected to be as well. Lucie will also headline "Lucie Arnaz in Concert: A Daughter's Ttribute," a special musical evening in which she salutes her father.

Ms. Graham will join me in celebrating her famous sister, Vivian Vance, in a Saturday morning presentation that combines film clips, rare family photos, and fond remembrances of the lady that made Ethel Mertz the world's favorite landlady. Ms. Graham will also be special guest on a Treasure Chest Boat Cruise.

David Stollery and Sammy Ogg will be this year's "Lucy Legend" guests, and share memories of appearing with Lucy and Desi. Dann Cahn will host a special screening of "Lucy Takes a Cruise to Havana," and likewise share memories of how that very special 75-minute Lucy-Desi show got made some 50 years ago -- in May/June, 1957.

The music soundtracks of Lucy and Desi's two MGM comedies -- "The Long, Long Trailer" (1954) and "Forever, Darling" (1956) -- have been released on CD by Lukas Kendall and Film Score Monthly.

The highlight, of course, is hearing the Arnazes sing "Breezin' Along with the Breeze" from "Trailer.
