Dear Fellow Lucyfans:
Jamestown August Festival Plans Announced
Actress Shirley Mitchell, actor Jerry Maren, former child actors Joe and Michael Mayer, fashion/costume designer Ret Turner, and author Cindy De La Hoz will join Lucy "staffers" Wanda Clark and Frank Gorey at the 9th annual "Lucy Birthday Celebration," to be held in Jamestown, New York, the weekend of August 3-5, 2007.
Attendees will get their first look at De La Hoz's new book, "Lucy at the Movies" -- the cover of which is featured above. Ms. De La Hoz will host a special tribute to Lucy's film career, including clips of her favorite Lucy-movie-moments.
Shirley Mitchell, who portrayed Marion Strong on I Love Lucy will host a special "Birthday Party Cruise," sharing memories of working with the Redhead on what has long been considered TV's most successful series ever. Joe and Michael Mayer -- the second set of twins to portray "Little Ricky Ricardo" in the series (1953-56) -- will co-host an "I Love Lucy Legends" event -- where attendees can get their photos taken with these special guests on a recreation of the Ricardo apartment set.
Jerry Maren, who not only appeared in an episode of Here's Lucy, but some 30+ years earlier portrayed one of the Munchkins in "The Wizard of Oz," will share his memories of both productions in a special Saturday evening show; and designer Ret Turner will host a Lucy/fashion-themed luncheon.
Wanda Clark, who worked for over 25 years as Lucille Ball's personal secretary, and Frank Gorey, Lucy's chauffeur and "major domo," will co-host a fan reunion/picnic in nearby Celoron, where Lucy lived for much of her childhood.

FROM PREVIOUS WEEKS
Dann "Returns" to Havana
For the past few years, Dann Cahn, the original film editor on I Love Lucy -- and later a director of various films and television programs -- has been writing his memoirs... No, he has not put them in a book. Rather, he's been writing articles for trade journals and magazines -- and making them available to the public as self-published booklets.
In celebration of the approaching 50th anniversary of "Lucy Takes a Cruise to Havana," the first of the "Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Show" specials, Dann has dusted off "The Cuban Caper," an article he wrote a couple of years ago -- and is making it available again with a new 50th Anniversary color cover. In the article, Dann tells of his adventures directing location shooting for the special down in Havana... Included are photos and informal snapshots from Dann's personal collection.
Dann sold copies of the booklet at the Lucy-Desi Festival in Jamestown, NY, over Memorial Day -- but also wants to make them available (at least for the next few weeks) to readers of this web site. The spiral-bound booklets are priced at $12 each (including postage and handling), and can be purchased from Dann directly.
