Still in Love with Lucy

Dear Fellow Lucyfans:
There's not a lot of "Lucy" news to report, so we thought we'd dip into our We Love Lucy mailbag and share one of the items we recently received...
The note came from longtime We Love Lucy member John Chiari, Jr., who recently took various family members to see Carole and Tom Troupe perform at a charity event in Florida. Here's what he had to say, and some of the photos he sent for us to share:
On Saturday, June 16th, my son Patrick, my sister Luanne, her friend Cindy, and I drove to the Biltmore Resort in Belleair, Florida, to see Carole Cook and her husband Tom Troupe perform. They were there for a celebrity benefit performance for the AHEPA Cooley's Anemia and Bone Marrow Foundation.
The morning started with a fashion show by Neiman Marcus, followed by a delicious lunch. There was a break before Carole and Tom were to perform, so I took Patrick to get an ice cream right next door from the ballroom. Then, when I stepped out of the ice cream shop for a moment, I did a double-take because there were Tom and Carole walking toward me. They were heading into the ballroom to do their show. I told them that Patrick was eating his ice cream, and they could see him through the glass window. So, Tom went right into the shop and introduced himself to my son -- and talked with him a few minutes. I thought what Tom did was very nice, and I know Patrick won't forget this!! Carole said hi to Patrick and asked his age (9 1/2). Then she promised to see us after the show.
On stage, Tom talked briefly about his his career in theatre, television, and movies. Then Carole came on singing "Broadway Baby." She sounded great! She talked about how Lucy discovered her, and how Lucy was her maid of honor at her wedding. She also talked about her TV work with Lucy, and about other stars with whom she has performed -- Richard Gere and Joan Collins, to name just a few. She kept us laughing the entire time she was on stage. She ended her show singing "Hello Dolly," which she performed for two years in Australia.
This was such a wonderful day for my son -- for all of us, actually. After the show Carole and Tom were very gracious in signing autographs and sitting for pictures. We all had a great time!

Have a great week everybody!
