Still in Love with Lucy

Dear Fellow Lucy Fans,
I hope that everyone who traveled to Jamestown this past weekend for the Lucy-Desi Museum's annual "Lucy's Birthday Celebration" had a great time and got home safely... I was not able to make the trip from Los Angeles this year -- so I will be anxious to hear from fans that did attend. Also, if you have any photos you would like to share -- send them to me and I will post them here on the web site. (Please send multiple photos through the US Mail, rather than through e-mail!)
This is, of course, Lucy's birthday week, and there are a couple of things for which you may want to set your VCRs:
- LIFETIME cable network will present an "Intimate Portrait of Lucille Ball," tonight (Monday, August 5). It airs at 7-9PM here on the west coast. Please check your TV listings for exact times in your area. This program is a repeat of 2001's "American Masters" production of "Finding Lucy," which has aired on PBS and is available on VHS from Paramount Home Video.
- HOME SHOPPING NETWORK will present the third in its series of "Lucy Hours" on Wednesday (August 7). It airs at 4PM Eastern time and 1PM Pacific Time. Suzanne LaRusch will again appear as Lucy Ricardo, and will help showcase a wide variety of interesting Lucy collectibles now on the market.
Fresno, CA - based Lucyfan Ron Paul is planning to turn his Saturday evening (August 10) radio program over to a celebration of Lucy's birthday -- and the 25th Anniversary of our We Love Lucy fan club. He has invited Stuart Shostak and myself to appear on the show (as we did last May). The program airs 8-10PM Pacific time -- 11P-1AM Eastern time. We will again provide an internet link on this web site so fans can "tune in" to the show via their computers. (SAD NOTE: the station has told us that WarpRadio, the service that channels the radio signal onto the internet, has changed their equipment and the signal can no longer be played on Mac computers. It is apparently now "PC only.")
Also for Lucyfans in southern California -- Nifty 50's (a memorabilia and collectibles dealer) is sponsoring a "Legends of Hollywood" memorabilia show this Saturday and Sunday (August 10th & 11th), 9AM - 5PM, in the Catalina Ballroom of the Crown Plaza Hotel in Irvine, California. Suzanne LaRusch will again be on hand, as will other special guests. For complete information, including travel directions, visit the Nifty 50s web site at www.gotlucy.com
That's all the news for now...
See you next week!
