Dear Fellow Lucy Fans,

More Videos Available Soon...

Gregg Oppenheimer reports that things are moving right along on the preparation and release of I Love Lucy home videos -- both from Columbia House and Paramount, both as DVDs and VHS tapes.

  • Available beginning next week (September 3) is the second two-tape boxed set of Paramount's "The Best of 'I Love Lucy'" VHS series. Each of the two tapes include 5 episodes.

Included on the first tape are: "Lucy & John Wayne," "Mr. & Mrs. TV Show," "Lucy and the Loving Cup," "Lucy Tells the Truth," and "Tennessee Bound."

The second tape includes: "The Operetta," "Lucy Gets a Paris Gown," "Lucy Goes to the Hospital," "The Golf Game," and "Lucy Gets in Pictures."

The third and final two-tape/ten-episode box set is due out next March.

  • Arriving October 1 will be Volumes 3 and 4 of Paramount's "I Love Lucy -- Season One" DVD series. These, we want to remind you, are duplicates of Volumes 3 and 4 of the Columbia House mail-order DVD series, with Paramount graphics replacing those of CH.

Each disc contains four episodes, plus wonderful bonus material. Volume 3 (far left) includes "Men are Messy," "The Fur Coat," "Lucy is Jealous of a Girl Dancer," and "Drafted." Volume 4 (near left) has "The Adagio," "The Benefit," "The Amateur Hour," "Lucy Plays Cupid."

Gregg tells us that Paramount will continue releasing "Season One" discs separately, but that seasons 2 - 6 will be released as complete boxed sets. But those are still a few years away...

  • Also arriving October 1 will be DVD and VHS versions of CBS's two-hour "I Love Lucy: 50th Anniversary Special." The program, co-produced by Lucie and Desi Arnaz, has been nominated for an Emmy Award.

Speaking of the Special...

CBS will broadcast the "I Love Lucy: 50th Anniversary Special," for the third time on Friday evening, September 13, 9-11PM (Eastern Time). "This is highly unusual," says one CBS executive. "For a major broadcast network to air a program three times in prime time within 10 months is unheard of... but it is indicative of how the network still believes in the 'Lucy' property."

See you next week!
