Dear Fellow Lucyfans,

Lucy Movies on DVD

Warner Archive has announced the latest batch of movies that it is releasing on DVD via its WBShop web site -- and four of Lucy's old films are among them: "Meet the People," "Thousands Cheer," "Having Wonderful Time" and "Joy of Living."

The discs are priced at $19.95 each.

Lucy stars in "Meet the People" with crooner Dick Powell. The film was released by MGM in 1944. "Thousands Cheer," an MGM release in 1943, featured nearly every star on the Metro lot in brief "cameo" appearances. Lucy is among them.

"Having a Wonderful Time" and "Joy of Living" are both RKO pictures from 1938. "Time" starred Ginger Rogers and Douglas Fairbanks Jr. in a comedy set at a Catskills resort. Red Skelton made his feature film debut in this one. Lucy and Eve Arden offer amble support...

"Joy of Living" starred Irene Dunne and (again) Doug Fairbanks Jr. in what was known as a "screwball comedy." Lucy again has a supporting role.

All of these films are making their "DVD debuts" on these Warner releases.
